Although Halloween isn’t near preparing for it beforehand doesn’t hurt anyway, right? Halloween Oreos are fun and spooky cookies you can make any time no need to wait months for the Halloween season to roll around.
My two favorite things in this world are baking and eating those baked items and these fun cookies seem to perfectly align with my weekend plans as just make up this holiday-themed dessert, get under the duvets, and turn on my favorite Harry Potter series, sounds heaven right?’
As I love baking on every occasion, whether it’s St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas, or Easter but my most favorite is Halloween as it’s the most fun where I can dress up not just myself but my desserts as well by making googly eyes with M&M, making monsters, and bats.
In previous years, I made doughnuts, cakes, cupcakes or even hot cocoa but this year I gave a try to this delicious Halloween Oreo dessert as it’s trendy, duhh obviously.
After making them, I was in awe at how easily they could be made up, just sputter up some batter, mix them together, get the icing and some googly eyes, and hurrah this spooky dessert is ready.
Fan of gore, blood, and hell lots of sugar, then these Halloween Oreos must be on your radar, get the recipe, tips, and even some variations ideas here.
Why You Will Love Halloween Oreos?
There are many reasons you will certainly get head over heels for these delicacies.
- You only require basic ingredients which must be easily available in your pantry.
- The recipe is easy, quick, and fun to prepare and OH MY GOD the taste is just divine.
- The designs are easy to make, even a noob like me could pull off many Halloween Oreo designs easily, however, you might find the bat design a bit tricky.
- Your children will love to help out as the final treat is a boon for them.
- If you have no idea about your Halloween desserts, then these Spooky cookies are the perfect way to light up your dining table.
- They taste delicious, for me only this factor will matter the most, lol!
- You can be creative while designing by using different colors or just 1 color to make up the frosting.
Stuff You Need While Making Halloween Oreos
Besides ingredients, you need these specific equipment to make the perfect holiday-special Halloween Oreos. I’m certain by paying attention to aesthetics and tips, you will forget to buy it from stores.
You need:
- Silicon baking mats
- Cooling Racks for evened-out cooling of cookies
- Cookie Scoops
- Food processor for mixing of batter
- Aluminium Cookie sheets
- Hand beater for frosting/filling
And then there’s typical equipment like measuring cups or spoons for accurate weighing of ingredients and yes the oven.
Variations In Halloween Oreos
You don’t even have to get stringent with everything I say. Just get your creativity mode on and bring Substitutions as per ingredients availability or to get a unique taste.
Here are some of the swaps which you can do to get a better flavor.
Almond Flour: Can you substitute regular flour with almond flour? Most definitely as it gives a neutral flavor and better texture.
The distinct crunch in Halloween Oreos is due to the fat in the almonds.
Coconut Oil: It gives healthy unsaturated fats to your cookies. Do you want to skip it? You surely can swap it up with ghee or grass-fed butter.
Black Cocoa Powder: The point to ponder here is that you need to use dark cocoa powder, although Dutch will give a nice taste black cocoa gives the distinct Halloween Oreo flavor.
You can go for cacao bean powder as that will be enriched with antioxidants and taste ravishing.
Flax Egg: If you want to swap up regular eggs, go for a flax egg. It can be made by mixing 1 tablespoon of ground flax seeds with three tablespoons of water and letting it rest for 5 minutes.
It’s a healthier alternative for people who are allergic to eggs but again eggs make the cookies soft and well-leavened
Gluten-free Flour: Are you gluten-intolerant? No need to skip these yummy cookies as oats flour makes a great substitute and is gluten-free.
Coconut Sugar: Another sweetener, I prefer using in my Halloween Oreos as it doesn’t raise glycaemic index or taste like coconut.
You can even swap it up with regular table sugar or maple sugar.
Grass-fed butter: If you are cutting short on dairy ingredients either due to lactose intolerance or your personal preference. You can use non-dairy butter like grass-fed butter.
Powdered Sugar: You can replace confectionary sugar with table sugar. Just grind the granules for 30 seconds until they become powder.
For a neutral flavor, add natural sweeteners like monk fruit to get the sweetness.
Maple Syrup: Some recipes calls for honey but some calls for maple syrup you can add any you want as both taste yummy.
However, maple syrup gives a nice crunch so that’s my recommendation.
