Cherry Milkshake: A Perfect Treat For Summers

Cherry Milkshake: A Perfect Treat For Summers

Do you also gravitate towards delicious thickened milkshakes? So here’s your cue to make this creamiest cherry milkshake that stave off the scorching heat of summer.

It’s not a dessert though if you are wondering, but an authentic flavored milkshake that is served chilled. Just mix up some cherries, vanilla ice cream, milk, sugar and you are sorted. However,  you can bring as many add-ons as you may like, just whip up all of them to have this amazing treat.

Although it’s prepared at home, but with its classic ingredients you can beat the consistency and flavor of a soda shop shake.

On humid summer nights, it hits right on the spot with its sweet notes and a delight to kick off the mugginess.

Stay connected with me to know how I have made this cherry milkshake, some expert tips, ingredient description, and topping variations to bring a fun twist.

Why Will You Love Cherry Milkshakes?

There are several reasons you will be attracted to having this delicious yet simple cherry milkshake.

Easy To Prepare: Why I Love Milkshakes? Simple answer, they require no heavy ingredients or don’t take much time. Just take some ingredients, put them into a blender, and tada your milkshake is ready.

Minimal Ingredients: To make up this classic cherry milkshake, you need typical ingredients like milk, sugar, and the specific fruit in the blender.  However, the additional ingredients make it delicious and elevate the flavor.

Cold Treat: There’s nothing more tempting than a cool treat in this scorching heat of summer. It tastes ravishing when it’s served cold so yes I love having this in this hot weather.

Chunkiness: Aren’t we a fan of chunky texture? This milkshake comes with lots of cherry and chocolate chunks that you can sip even with a straw. But still blending it into tiny particles that you can gulp down easily will be more fun.

Ingredients Used In Cherry Milkshake

Ingredients make this milkshake an absolute treat, although classic milkshake ingredients are used you can be creative with add-ons that bring all the fun.

Whole Milk: I love adding chilled whole milk into my milkshakes, but if whole milk is unavailable you can use any plant-based milk like almond milk or coconut milk can be added. Dairy isn’t a bad choice either.

Cherries: The star ingredient is here, A LOT OF CHERRIES. I’m using frozen cherries as fresh ones aren’t available conveniently. You can get frozen ones from any mart, you can even choose maraschino or jarred cherries if you like.

Sugar: Either use table sugar, but if you are cutting down on it, use any alternative sweetener like stevia or granular monk fruit which doesn’t raise sugar levels and is a comparatively better choice.

Milk Powder: It’s another optional ingredient, but I prefer adding it. Why? It gives creaminess and a deep flavor to the milkshake and tastes yummy.

Almond Extract: It’s an add-on, so you can skip on it especially if you are using almond milk. But if you are using whole milk, then adding a bit of almond extract enriches the cherries flavor.

Vanilla Ice Cream: For a rich taste, use high-quality vanilla ice cream. I go for French vanilla but if you like vanilla bean or the premium vanilla ice cream, it will take the taste profile to another level.

Here are just ingredient descriptions,  for the exact measurements go to the recipe card. You can add as many ingredients as you like unless you don’t suppress the authentic flavor of cherries.

Topping Ideas For Cherry Milkshake

Once you are certain what you will add to this cherry milkshake, now comes the question, how to top it off? I’m not particularly an expert in thinking about toppings so we can go with the classic ones.

  • Lather it up with lots of whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry in the center,  a classic yet cute style.
  • Add some chopped nuts, caramel sauce, or chocolate syrup over the top if you are in the mood for a Chocolaty flavor.
  • You can even add an extra dollop of vanilla ice cream on the top.
  • Try the mix-ins if you like, like add some cherry chunks or chunks of nuts which give a crunch and taste divine.
  • You can even add some sprinkles and chocolate chips on the top for a funky look. But again, these are some of my ideas, you can unleash your own creativity and bring on as many ideas as you like.

Handy Tips & Tricks

To ace this cherry milkshake recipe, having some tips and tricks on your hands doesn’t harm, right?’ So here’s some expert tips for you to be wild in this milkshake.

  • You must choose a premium quality ice cream, I personally prefer Edy’s Vanilla Bean. It’s fluffy and icy and everything you desire, you won’t believe but I love to gobble it down even from the carton, it’s that addicting. You can even use chocolate ice cream or for a different version, use cherry ice cream.
  • You can go for either fresh cherries or frozen cherries. While using fresh ones, pit them initially or for frozen cherries, you need to add a little more milk as they give a thicker texture.
  • For chocolatey flavor, add chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla and add chocolate chunks for an increased umph.
  • It’s all up to you how thick you like your milkshake, so add the amount of milk accordingly. But for the start, slowly add milk and then balance the consistency the way you desire.
  • Mind it, it’s a milkshake not dessert so making it ahead of time isn’t recommended, serve it immediately once you are done making it.
